Syrians in Balkans Celebrate ‘New Beginning’ After Assad Regime Falls

According to the 2021 census conducted by Greece’s Statistical Authority, 10,785 Syrians live in Greece.
In Serbia, dozens of Syrians gathered in front of the Syrian embassy in Belgrade on Sunday, entering the embassy courtyard, where a new flag was raised later. Many of them told the media they would like to return home, hoping for “a new beginning”.
One Syrian, who told N1 Television he had come to Serbia and had obtained a medical degree there, said he now felt able to consider going home.
