A group of over 30 friends are hosting a soccer charity match this coming Tuesday, dedicated to bringing awareness to Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).
MSA is a rare and fast–moving neurological disease that impacts movement, balance, and vital automatic functions like blood pressure and breathing. There is no cure.
Organised by a group of 15- to 16-year-old boys, the multicultural charity match will see Oakleigh Hellas take on SKFC at Jack Edwards Reserve in Oakleigh, Melbourne, on Tuesday 16 December at 1pm.
“Get down to not only support your mates but to show solidarity and raise awareness for those struggling with this disease,” one of the organisers said in a social media post.
Some of the players with Greek heritage who will feature include Lambros Charalambous, Kingston Ezard, Adam Di Carlo and Thomas Prifitis.
“Definitely going to be an entertaining game. You know, these two slides have been clashing and it’s gone under the radar but now being brought to life,” Lambros said on social media.
He also teased that there may or may not be a famous Greek celebrity making an appearance.
They are looking to raise funds for charity CombatMSA.
More info about the match can be found at @combatmsa.cm on Instagram, and more info about the charity can be found at the Combat MSA website.
