The MANASIS dance group represented the Greek community at the annual “VASAR” cultural festival, hosted by Folklorna Grupa Šumadija at St. Stephan the Archdeacon Serbian Orthodox Church in Keysborough. The event brought together Serbian dance groups from across Australia, each showcasing traditional dances, costumes, and rhythms from different regions of Serbia.
As honoured guests, the Greek dancers highlighted the deep cultural ties between Greece and the Balkans, demonstrating the shared history and traditions that unite the region. Their performance featured parallel rhythms, dances, and costumes, showcasing the striking similarities between Greek and Serbian heritage.

MANASIS showcased customs from Anatoliki Romilia and Thrace, presenting the vibrant “Kamiles kai Divitzides” Carnival Season Procession—an iconic feature of Greece’s Dodekaimero and Apokries traditions.
The Apokries festivities will continue with the MANASIS Masquerade Party on Friday, 28 February, at Vanilla in Oakleigh.
Students will take to Eaton Mall in elaborate furs, masks, and bells, creating a lively twilight spectacle. In March, the group will shift its focus to commemorating Greek National Day with performances and celebrations across the community.
