Tragic outcome: 28-year-old Greek Cypriot drowns in Geroskipou (updated)

Today’s trip to the beach had a tragic outcome for a young Greek Cypriot. A 28-year-old man from Paphos lost his life while swimming at Geroskipou beach.
The unfortunate young man was spotted by other swimmers and lifeguards manning the beach; he had lost consciousness while in the sea, as Philenews reported earlier.
Lifeguards immediately rushed to his side, pulled him ashore, and administered first aid until an ambulance, which had been notified, arrived.
The young man was transported to Paphos Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The cause of death is expected to be determined after an autopsy, which will reveal whether it was drowning or another, pathological cause that led to his death.
