Tzagarolon Monastery case: Hotelier brothers in Crete remanded in custody

The two businessmen from Stavros were found guilty after pleading guilty in the case of extortion, specifically the sale of land belonging to the Monastery of Tzagarola in Chania.
They are a 57-year-old alleged leader and his 47-year-old brother. The two brothers are being prosecuted for:
Extortion committed in aid of racketeering
Aggravated assault and battery,
Trafficking in influence peddling – Intermediaries in aiding and abetting
Bribery of an Employee committed in conspiracy and in concert; and
Money laundering from criminal activities
Meanwhile, on Friday, the Bishop who allegedly signed a certificate of extortion, whereby the Jagarolo Monastery waived all claims to the monastic property at the Cross, is expected to testify before the investigating judge.
