Warning issued against purchase of unlicensed products

The pharmaceutical services on Tuesday warned the public about a product called Fungent, which is being advertised and sold online and through social media as an antifungal cream for feet.
The authorities clarified that Fungent does not hold the required marketing authorisation for pharmaceutical products in Cyprus, putting consumer safety at risk.
The department advised the public to avoid using Fungent if they have it in their possession as its quality and safety have not been verified by the relevant authorities.
This uncertainty could potentially pose serious health risks.
Consumers who come across this product are urged to report it immediately to the pharmaceutical services of the health ministry.
This warning follows similar alerts from the national organisation for medicines (Eof) in Greece, where Fungent has also been promoted with unverified therapeutic claims.
