Defence minister Vasilis Palmas today assured that the National Guard had the capacity to defend itself if and when needed, in response to a front page Phileleftheros report that an anti-drone contract, awarded to protect critical infrastructures on the island is now up in the air following major issues with the Greek company that undertook the project.
Palmas stressed that the matter lies in the exclusive domain of the Justice and Public Order domain, with his ministry’s responsibility and contribution having to do with the know how it provided on the issue.
‘The National Guard has its own systems and means by which it maintains the capacity to defend the country’s sovereignty and the citizen’s safety’, the defence minister added.
