Temperatures will remain low today, New Year’s Day, across the entire country. Frost will occur during the morning and evening hours in mainland areas, locally strong in the north.
In the west and north, the weather will generally be clear, with temporarily increased cloud cover until the early morning hours in eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as well as in the eastern parts of Halkidiki, bringing sleet and, locally in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas as well as in areas of lower altitude (indicatively 300–350 meters), light snowfall, followed by rapid improvement.
In the rest of the country, there will be a few clouds, locally increased, with local rain, sleet in the northernmost areas, and temporary snowfall in the mountains as well as in central and northern semi-mountainous areas. After midday, the phenomena will stop in most areas, continuing only in Crete until the evening.
Winds will blow from northern directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort, 6 over the seas and locally 7 in the Aegean, gradually weakening from the afternoon in the west, central, and northern regions.
Temperatures will drop slightly further, mainly in the south, and will remain low throughout the country. They will not exceed 5–6°C in the north, 7–10°C in the eastern mainland, and 11–13°C elsewhere, locally reaching 14°C in southern Crete and the Dodecanese.

Weather: Cloudy with temporary increases during the early hours, with occasional light local rain and light snowfall in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas as well as in areas of lower altitude (indicatively 350–400 meters). Rapidly becoming generally clear.
Winds: Northerly 4–6 Beaufort, and temporarily up to 7 Beaufort in the east. From midday, variable and weak (2–4 Beaufort).
Temperature: From 2 to 9°C. In the north, 2–3 degrees lower.
THESSALONIKI
Weather: Generally clear.
Winds: Northerly to northwesterly 5–6 Beaufort with rapid weakening. From midday, variable and weak (2–3 Beaufort).
Temperature: From -3 to 6°C.
MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: In eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and the eastern parts of Halkidiki, cloud cover temporarily increased until the early morning hours with sleet and, locally in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas as well as in areas of lower altitude (indicatively 300–350 meters), light snowfall and rapid improvement.
In the remaining areas, generally clear.

Temperature: From -5 to 5–6°C. In western Macedonia, from -10 to 3–4°C.
IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN CENTRAL GREECE, WESTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Generally clear with a few temporary clouds in the south.
Winds: From northern directions 3–5 Beaufort, and in the Ionian temporarily until morning up to 6 Beaufort. From midday, variable and weak (2–3 Beaufort).
Temperature: From 3 to 11–12°C. In the interior of Epirus, from -7 to 4°C.
THESSALY, EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EUBOEA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: In Thessaly, generally clear with a few temporary clouds in the morning. In the remaining areas, a few clouds temporarily increased until morning, with local rain or sleet and light snowfall in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, gradually becoming generally clear.
Winds: From northern directions 4–5 Beaufort, and in marine and coastal areas 6, locally 7 Beaufort, gradually weakening from the north.
Temperature: From -2 to 10°C. In the north, 2–3 degrees lower.
CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Cloudy with temporary increases, local rain, and light snowfall in mountainous areas. From midday, the phenomena will gradually stop in the Cyclades, while in Crete they will continue until the evening.
Winds: Northerly 6–7 Beaufort, gradually weakening. From the afternoon, northerly to northeasterly 4–6 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 4 to 12°C, locally up to 14°C in southern Crete.
EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE
Weather: Cloudy with temporary increases until the morning hours, with local rain and, on the Eastern Aegean islands, temporary snowfall or sleet. Gradually becoming generally clear.
Winds: On the Eastern Aegean islands, northerly to northeasterly 4–6 Beaufort, gradually weakening. In the Dodecanese, northerly to northwesterly 5–6 Beaufort, temporarily locally 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 0 to 10°C, and in the Dodecanese from 6 to 13–14°C.
Forecast for tomorrow, Friday 02-01-2026
Initially, almost clear weather over most of the country, with local cloud cover that will quickly increase in the west. From midday, local rain will occur in the northern Ionian and Epirus, and isolated thunderstorms will develop over the Ionian. In the evening, the phenomena will spread to the remaining western regions.
Snowfall will occur from the afternoon in the mountains of Epirus and at night in the mountains of Central Greece and temporarily in the mountains of the Peloponnese.
Winds will blow from southern to southwestern directions at 3–5 Beaufort, and in the southeast from west to northwest at the same intensity. From midday in the Ionian and gradually locally in the Aegean, they will strengthen to 5–6 Beaufort, with further strengthening at night.
Temperatures will rise, mainly in terms of maximum values, though frost will again occur early in the morning in mainland areas.
They will reach 8–10°C in the north, 11–14°C in the eastern mainland, and 15–16°C in the rest of the country.
Forecast for Saturday 03-01-2026
In the west, rain and isolated thunderstorms. In the rest of the country, clouds temporarily increased with local rain mainly in the eastern Aegean, Thrace, and eastern Peloponnese, where isolated thunderstorms may also occur.
Temporary snowfall will occur in the western mainland mountains during the morning hours.
Winds will blow from southern to southwestern directions at 5–6 Beaufort, 7 over the seas, and locally 8 Beaufort in the Aegean.
Temperatures will rise further.

Thin clouds, locally and at times dense. Local rain will occur mainly in the west, the eastern Aegean, and Thrace.
Winds will blow from southern to southwestern directions at 5–7 Beaufort, and locally up to 8 Beaufort in the northern and central Aegean.
