The process in North Macedonia of electing representatives to the European Court of Human Rights is in a bind. On July 29, the government annulled a shortlist of candidates for seats on the Court.
It gave no reason for the decision, other than a vague claim that the selected candidates did not meet the conditions – without elaborating which conditions it meant. Public prosecutor Lence Ristoska, one of those shortlisted candidates, talks to BIRN about the pressures she experienced to withdraw her name from the list.
