Week in Review: Change, For Better or Worse

The diplomatic row between Albania and Greece over the arrest, trial and imprisonment of Fredi Beleri, a Greek-Albanian politician elected mayor of Himara in southern Albania in 2023, continues with little sign of resolution. Yet for Himara, the recent repeated mayoral elections were a chance to draw a line under the whole affair.
For many locals, there are more pressing matters than the row between Athens and Tirana. Right now, they seem more keen on the new mayor getting on with solving their problems with property registration and rights.
