What to do this week (December 17-23)
Source: Tornos News
What’s worth experiencing this week: From the SNFCC Ice Rink and the silent magic of Christmas at EMST, a stop for festive burgers at Smash ’n Bun, theater with Aladdin or Stand-Up comedy at Piraeus Tower, to evenings with Galani and Tsaligopoulou at VOX.

Pirouettes on Ice
The SNFCC Ice Rink returns this year — one of those Christmas traditions that instantly gets you in the holiday spirit. On the northern side of the Canal, under the lights and with the fountains as a backdrop, the rink becomes a meeting point for both young and old: whether you’re taking your first laps or enjoying the joy of gliding gracefully on ice. It is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00, with free admission and first-come, first-served access. For the period December 20–25, 2025, pre-registration is recommended for better service. Registrations open every Tuesday at 12:00. (December 20–25, 2025, 10:00–22:00)

Galani & Tsaligopoulou: A Musical Gathering
From Wednesday, December 17, and every Wednesday at VOX, two of our most important voices meet again on stage: Dimitra Galani and Eleni Tsaligopoulou, together with Vasilis Prodromou and the historic Estudiantina of Nea Ionia Volos (orchestra conductor: Andreas Katsigiannis). A performance promising a musical winter full of warmth and intimacy: songs carrying stories, roots that move you, and a “big musical gathering” that embraces tradition, gently experiments with it, and leaves room for the unexpected. From folk and Tsitsanis to Smyrnaic music and today, bittersweetness becomes a shared space — where voices find their most human meaning. (VOX, Every Wednesday until January 28, 2026)

The Silent Magic of Christmas
On Thursday, December 18, EMST creates a small Christmas time capsule with SILENT NIGHT, bringing the ghosts of the holidays to the museum mezzanine through silent Christmas films from the early 20th century. Black-and-white frames with Santa Clauses getting confused, Cupid causing commotion, and A Christmas Carol before it became a classic cliché. You with warm wine in hand, a cozy atmosphere, and the feeling that for 107 minutes you are transported to another era, where magic doesn’t need sound to emerge. Screening at 20:00 at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Total duration: 107’

Festive Burgers with Caviar and Foie Gras
Smash ’n Bun dresses up for the holidays and presents the Smash ’n Bun: Bling Bling Edition — a limited experience combining the signature smash burger with high-end gastronomic ingredients. From December 18 to January 3, 2026, you can enjoy two special festive creations: one with foie gras hugging the juicy smash patty in an unexpectedly harmonious balance, and one with fresh truffle for intensity and depth in every bite. The “bling” continues on the side: Smash ’n Bun’s crispy fries are served with crème fraîche and caviar (Fine Foods Collection), while for the ultimate pairing, Deals recommends champagne — because holidays deserve bubbles. One Year of Ankor Bar
Ankor Bar, the newest arrival on Asklipiou Street in Exarchia, celebrates its first anniversary on Thursday, December 18. The project of the Rudu Bar team (Petralona) in collaboration with Tzitziki of Amorgos brought the signature purple light to the Neapoli neighborhood — along with the signature Purple Paloma. Its philosophy remains unchanged: drinks on the sidewalk, music nights around the bar, with straight drinks, a fine wine selection, and three strong house cocktails. Ankor continues writing the daily story of an Athenian bar hangout. On December 18, it cuts the cake and hosts a double DJ set with Mandy and Liza Klez, featuring indie, dark wave, and street beats. All night, Jameson Black Barrel will be featured in a special offer — neat or in an Irish Mule. (Ankor Bar – Asklipiou 45, Exarchia)

Stand-Up Comedy at Piraeus Tower
Nice n Easy Piraeus Tower welcomes Dimitris Christoforidis at Cloud 9 (3rd floor, Piraeus Tower) for his new stand-up comedy show “I’m Thinking of Getting a Cactus”, an evening of laughter with realism, tenderness, and sharp self-mockery. Starting from his own “decade of the 40s,” Christoforidis comments on the small and big insecurities of middle age, where the most daring decision he seems capable of is… buying a cactus. With experience from over 1,000 shows and his familiar, direct style, he brings fresh material that tickles our curiosities and ends in that essential laughter that moves you — even if just a little. Sunday 21/12 & Sunday 28/12 | 21:00, Cloud 9 (Nice n Easy Piraeus Tower, Akti Poseidonos 2, 3rd floor)
