A cohort of students from the MANASIS School of Greek Dance and Culture delighted thousands of spectators as they performed a plethora of traditional Greek folk dances at the Bentleigh Festival.
The young dancers entertained with their performances, adding to the Greek component for Bentleigh’s cultural spectacular this past Sunday.
Dimosthenis Manasis, the school’s Director/Instructor, expressed their pleasure in helping contribute to the event and perform dances that highlight cultural similarities.
“When our audience is entirely diverse as it was over this weekend, we’re able to present an array of dances, costumes, and music, and of course finish off with the famous Sirtaki/Zorba dance, in order to encourage our audiences to join in with us,” he said in an official announcement.

The event boasted a fusion of trendy eateries, retail outlets, and uber-cool bars, with Centre Rd (from Jasper Rd onwards) closed off to transform an entire kilometre stretch into a busting pedestrian precinct complete with rides, activations, representation from various organisations, and street entertainment. The youngsters withstood the heat and the rain to win the admiration of the thousands in attendance.
The school is in line to continue performing at important events, with them set to feature in the annual Masquerade Party at Vanilla Lounge in Oakleigh on Friday while also performing at events of the Bulgarian community’s Martenitsa Festival this weekend.
Following the conclusion of Apokries, the school’s attention will turn towards events in March commemorating Greek Independence Day with a heap of initiatives being organised that will feature them as they continue to entertain audiences with dance.
