The Region of Crete at the “London Wine Fair 2025” exhibition

For another year, the Region of Crete participated in the “London Wine Fair 2025” exhibition held in London. This is an institution that has been operating successfully for over 40 years and is a unique event in the international promotion of large quantities of wine to wholesalers, distributors, large traders, suppliers, supermarket chains, collectors, and wine experts.
This year’s exhibition was attended by 442 exhibitors, who had the opportunity to come into contact with distributors and importers of the on-trade and off-trade market of the United Kingdom, as well as with a number of renowned journalists specializing in the product. The exhibition was visited by over 10,000 experts in the field who had the opportunity to conduct tastings, attend speeches, masterclasses, and presentations on innovations in the wine industry.
The Crete Region pavilion was located in a central and privileged location and hosted 8 winemakers from all over Crete as well as the “Wines of Crete” winemakers network, giving them the opportunity to present their excellent quality Cretan wines, in a multi-collective commercial network that shapes trends and promotes geographical regions and brands all over the world.
Two Wine Bars operated at the national pavilion, where visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to taste representative wines of the Greek participation. A special Masterclass Session was also held where, along with other Greek wines, 50 visitors and wines from the Cretan participation were presented to the public.
The pavilion of the Region of Crete was visited by the General Counselor of the 2nd Division of the Greek Embassy in London, Paraskevi Kambouroglou, and Katerina Tsounakou, Counselor of the 2nd Division of the Greek Embassy in London, who had the opportunity to talk to the producers – winemakers and taste the Cretan wines.
The Deputy Regional Governor of Agricultural Economy, Stavros Tzedakis, stated: “The extroversion actions of the Region of Crete for the Agri-Food sector are continuous for all the quality products of our country. The London Wine Fair is an exhibition that we have been participating in as a Region since 2019, with successful results for our winemakers. The Region supports the Cretan Vineyard and Cretan wine, in practice not only in Greece but also abroad. The wine destination Crete is steadily becoming better known and is establishing itself on the world wine map day by day.”
The Region of Crete was represented by the Empowered Regional Advisor for Education and Lifelong Learning of the Region of Crete, Eleni Maraki-Beladaki, the Deputy Head of the Directorate of Rural Development and Veterinary Medicine of the Chania Regional Government, Mania Mylonaki, and Eleni Malandraki, an employee of the same service, who also supported the process of informing and promoting Cretan wines.
The action is part of the project “Crete European Region of Gastronomy 2026”.
